Fleurs Du Mal  Collection ... FALL 2010

For my inaugural Fleurs Du Mal Collection of “Black_Fragmented Chunk”

Necklaces (Earrings, Rings, Bracelets and Brooches to follow shortly), I draw

inspiration from the beautifully dark and brooding poetry of Charles Baudelaire,

from which this collection takes its name.

Equal parts masculine and feminine, my jewelry emanates from that BLACK

void, where the subversive avante-garde and post-altermodern chic

merge; where quantum theory becomes spiritual and meanings and classifications

dissolve. Timeless/Raw/Refined/Hard/Soft/Deconstructed/Elegant... the pieces from within the

Fleurs Du Mal Collection are every bit as sophisticated, unique and confident as

the individual who dares wear them. Please wear creatively

Combining elements of minimalism and [punk] attitude, the idea is to remix

unmatchable elements, slash boundaries and create tension between opposites:

A sort of “post-postmodern, post-punk, post-rave, post-medium, post-

apocalyptic, post-existential Zen meditation.” at times deceptively sardonic,

cynical and nihilistic…

I consider my jewelry and accessories a direct and natural extension of my

concurrent studio art practice: think “tiny” versions of my larger, sculptural

hybrid-paintings, where the body replaces the wall, floor and ceiling… I make

no distinction between the two.

Entirely hand-sculpted, hand-painted and one-of-a-kind, all pieces from within

the Fleurs Du Mal Collection are made in Manhattan, New York City using

various atypical, non-traditional and (where possible) eco-conscious materials,

merged with the classic: Modified and Recycled Acrylic Polymer Emulsions,

Inorganic Synthetic Carbon Black, PBkG_SBX (Super-Black), Homemade, High-

Quality Dye-Based Ink, Japanese Inks, Spray Paints, Alkyd, Acrylic and Epoxy

Resins, Hand-Oxidized Fair Trade Sterling Silver Chains, Stainless Steel, Wood…

Each piece comes individually titled and numbered, and presented in its own

custom, signed and BLACKENED  handmade wood box, sourced directly from a

managed pine forestry.

Please remember that the slight imperfections, chips, cracks, marks, abrasions

and possible fading due to natural wear is normal and an inherent part of my

artistic practice. Embrace these organic changes for their own distinct character.

Your jewelry is designed to evolve over time and will gradually adapt to your

own body and movements.  As each piece is slightly more delicate than it

might at first appear, proper care while wearing, handling and storing is

suggested. Examine your jewelry regularly to make certain all clasps and joinings

remain secure.

Each necklace currently retails from $140.00 (USD) - $410.00 (USD),

based on size and complexity, with

Earrings, Rings and Brooches to follow shortly.
